About the GVVR
What is the Greater Vancouver Vespa Riders all about? Simple, look at the name. We are a group of Vespa owners that ride in and around Metro Vancouver (formerly known as the Greater Vancouver Regional District or GVRD). Since there is really no Vespa Club of Canada presence in the Vancouver area anymore we felt it was important to start an organization that will fill that void.
Our mission is to offer local Vespa owners a place to meet, chat, organize rides, download Vespa manuals, learn about their scooter, and to take advantage of dealer perks only available to GVVR Members.
Our primary goal is to be the number one information center for Vespa owners in Metro Vancouver; to become what everyone expects when they pay money to join a scooter club.
We are not here to compete with any other local scooter club. We hope to work closely with them in organising rides, rallies, and other events. Having said that, there is no reason why you can't be members of all. Each club offers totally different things.

Membership Info & Requirements
There are 3 types of memberships we're offering.
1. General Member - See requirements below. This is free. Available to anyone. This entitles you to view and post in all the general areas of this forum. however, you are unable to see the other areas available to Full or World Members. As a General Member your only obligation is to stay active. In effort to keep our forum clean we filter through the Forum Members list and delete all that have not logged on in over 30 days or reached their posting quota.
2. World Member - See requirements below. This is available to Vespa owners, non-Vespa owners, and Vespa Wanters. You will have access to areas not available to the General Member including tech help from real technicians.
3. Full Member - See requirements below. Your membership will give you access to all areas of the forum. Topics like technical books, wiring diagrams, paint codes, vintage photos, and the option to have a say in club functions and money usage.
Full Members will also be able to take advantage of special incentives from scooter related businesses available to members only.
Money collected for membership dues goes to the following:
- Maintaining our Internet presence.
- Mail-outs, stationary, print toner, etc.
- Bank fees.
- Sponsoring local rallies, BBQ's, etc.
- Hosting our own annual rally.
A monthly report of credits and debits is available upon request.
The GVVR is run entirely by volunteers. If you want to be a part of the committee at any time please feel free. No one on the committee has any obligations. Do as much or as little as you can. No one on the committee gets paid. Nor do committee members get free memberships.
Before you ask 'What do I get for my money?" Please refer to the second paragraph above. The more you are involved in the club the more you will feel the benefits. Your membership is not a ticket to a show where you simply sit back and watch. Make this club work for you. Get involved. Organize rides in your area of the Metro Vancouver or wherever.
We will not have official club meetings. ALL club business will be dealt with on the discussion forum including voting on how club money is spent. In the event that there is a function that we are hosting or sponsoring where a sit-down meeting is required the meeting will be organised by those voluteering to help out at the function.
Forum Membership requirements
An interest in scooters. Create a forum account using you REAL name so that we can identify you. You can change your diplay name to whatever you want after you've been activated. Those creating an account without their real name will be denied entry. You must also maintain a presence on the forum. Failure to log in at least once a month or not maintaining a 2 post/mth quota will result in your account being deleted. The forum membership is available to anyone in the world.
Worldwide Membership
This is available to anyone in the world. You can own any type of scooter. You will receive a club patch with your initial sign-up. Out of towners can get help with accommodations if coming to a local rally or just visiting our area. If you live within Metro Vancouver we encourage you to become a full member. World members pay $15 for the first year and $10 per subsequent years.
Full Membership Requirements
To become a full member you must own and ride a Piaggio made Vespa motor scooter or other model* not badged as Vespa but is clearly and unmistakably a Vespa copy. There has been a lot of dispute within other clubs about what makes of scooters entitle them to join. Here we are making it simple. Black and white. No grey areas. This means Vespa's only.
*Other models not badged as "Vespa" are limited to the following: Allstate Vespa's, Cushman Vespa's, Douglas Vespa's, PGO 125 & 150 LS, Stella, Bajaj Chetak, and LML Star.
The only other requirement for Full Membership is you must live in Metro Vancouver (formerly known as the Greater Vancouver Regional District or GVRD). If you're confused as to what that means look at the map HERE. If you live anywhere on that map you can join...if you own a Vespa.
We will also extend memberships to those further out in the Fraser Valley.
Full Membership dues are $30.00 for the first year and $25^ for subsequent years. You can pay for up to 2 years at a time. This can be done through PayPal or by sending a cheque. To pay by cheque email the Club admin.
^Subsequent year discount valid only if renewing within 30 days after expiry.
Please click the 'Join the Club' button for information on how to pay.
